Club Achievements
Parc Golf Club is proud of all its members achievements and 2016-2017 was an extremely successful period for one of our Junior members, Ben Hicks. Ben became the Gwent Junior Matchplay Champion in October 2016.
Ben’s year became even more successful as he became the first player from Parc to represent Wales, when he was chosen to play against Ireland in March 2017 and this was closely followed by representing his country in the Boys Home Internationals in Lytham St. Annes.
Ben’s fantastic year culminated in playing in the European Boys Team Championship in Krakov, Poland in September 2017. The Welsh team gained promotion into the first division as a result.
The Parc Golf Club is proud to have been awarded the Top Spirit Award in the 2023 TopTracer Awards.
Top Spirit is a Europe-wide award, which goes to the club that best encapsulates the spirit and values of TopTracer.
We have demonstrated this through our numerous community schemes that gives everyone more access to Golf.
Our first team won the prestigious title of Welsh Team Champions in August 2015 – the greatest team achievement in the club’s history. The team, made up of Steve Williams (Captain), Alastair Mason, Rob Smith, Nathan Edwards, Josh Channing and Rhys Fletcher, then went on to represent Wales in the European Club Trophy Finals in Cyprus in October.
Rob Smith is also the co-holder of our course record of 61, which he shot on 29th July 2017. This record was equalled by Ben Hicks on 26th September 2020
Also in 2015, Brian Lee, our Head Professional and the Club Captain, Carl Hicks, won the regional PGA Pro Captain Challenge at Bowood Golf Club and qualified for the finals which took place in Turkey, finishing a creditable third place.
Two of our first team, Alastair Mason and Rob Smith also represented Gwent in the 2015 season.
Our Mens’ First Team won their respective Gwent league divisions for five straight seasons gaining promotion to the 1st division for the first time in 2011 and has remained there since, becoming formidable title challengers.
Our Junior First Team won their Yellow Gwent League in 2015, as run away champions. Three of the team, Ben Hicks, Luke Anderson and Chris Williams were also part of the Gwent Under 18 Boys Team, who won the Channel League for the first time. The club was also very well represented in the under 16 age group, with Ben and Luke joined by Callum Taylor. In addition, we were represented in both the Monmouthshire Ladies and Monmouthshire Girls by Katie Dwyer, who had an exceptional season, when she won the Ladies Club Championship.
In 2010, Steve Hook and PGA Professional Richard Dinsdale were crowned PGA International Pro-Captain Challenge Winners.
Richard also had a 2nd place finish in 2009 when partnered by Steve Williams.
